What’s involved?
A great way to take action on the issue of Australians in prison overseas, is by supporting the international organizations and campaigns that call for the abolition of the death penalty by/in all countries. By becoming involved in this issue, you could help put a stop to the execution of Australian’s that are imprisoned overseas, for crimes that attract the death penalty.
*AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL*
Bringing an end to executions and the death penalty everywhere is central to Amnesty International’s work to protect human rights worldwide. Their website has a list of actions that you can become involved in. Check these out at; http://web.amnesty.org/pages/deathpenalty-actnow-eng

ReprieveAustralia is an organization that provides humanitarian assistance and legal representation to people facing the death penalty overseas. They also produce and publish information about the use of the death penalty and raise awareness generally concerning human rights. *WORLD COALITION AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY*
This World Coalition gathers all kinds of organizations that are fighting against the death penalty, to coordinate their efforts of lobbying and action at an international level.
You can help their efforts by participating in the *“World Day against capital punishment,”* which will be held on October 10th 2006. On this day hundreds of events related to the theme “Death penalty, a failure of justice” will be taking place around the world!
Concerts, plays, exhibitions and conferences will be organized to raise awareness of the consequences of capital punishment.
