What’s involved?
It’s easy to get carried away with chocolate-buying (and eating)!
Just try not to forget about the exploitation that occurs for the benefit of our taste-buds.
Did you know that around 600 000 children work on the Ivory fields in West Africa, producing cocoa for our chocolate? Many of these children are slaves, working in poor conditions for little or no pay.
Want to do something about it?
Buy fair-trade chocolate!
Why should people do this?
Fair-trade brands don’t use slave labour or exploitation to make their chocolate. Farms are regularly inspected and farmers are paid a fair price.
Fair-trade chocolate also tastes great and can be found in supermarkets or health shops. All fair-trade brands (like Dagoba and Maya Gold) are clearly labelled
