What’s involved?
The
Inspire Foundation, a national organisation that creates opportunities for young people to change their world, is looking for young people aged 16 to 25 to be part of our Youth Advisory Group for the Bridging the Digital Divide: Youth Action Project.
This national project is about creating opportunities for young people to take action on issues that they are passionate about and develop the skills they need to make change. In 2007 Inspire ran ‘action workshops’ in Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Shepparton and in 2008 we plan on running even more. We are also launching a new element called the Action Challenge, a competition for workshop participants.
To do that, we are looking for 15 young people aged 16 to 25 with diverse backgrounds and life experiences to provide advice that will assist in decision making about the project. The kinds of decisions that need to be made include
– How should we recruit participants
– How can we improve the workshops?
– What resources should we give people at the workshops and what should they look like?
– Working out what the Action Challenge will involve
This group of young people will be called the ‘Youth Advisory Group.’ There will also be opportunities for Youth Advisory Group members who are interested, to be involved in research and evaluation, co-facilitating workshops and coming up with ideas for how young people can be more actively involved in shaping the project’s direction. Additionally all members are welcome to participate in a four week online ‘Action Challenge’ where you’ll get to test out some of the tools for taking action that you’ve helped us develop.
