Community Vision are a not-for-profit organisation North of the River in Perth which run a school holiday program called CREATE for disabled teenagers. Most school holiday programs end at 12, but this one continues and allows 13 to 17 year olds to experience their community in a social and safe environment. They are looking for volunteers.

Why should people do this?

Through the CREATE program, the teenagers are able to go to places like the Great Escape (a fun park), the movies, Pot Black, the Fire Station and the Reptile Park and are always looking for both paid and unpaid volunteers to help out with the program and be friends and mentors to the regular kids.

One of the mothers I spoke to actually said enrolling was the best thing they had ever done for her 17 year old daughter, who has participated every school holidays and has made a network of friends independent to those at school, who would often leave her out of after-hours get-togethers.

The company are very caring and respect every child and every volunteer's needs.

Volunteering would be a fantastic Action. There is not a great deal of awareness, yet there is so much demand kids are missing out on excursions they are hoping to go on because there just aren't enough people.
