"We design T-shirts!"
Serving Time is a ground–breaking program created and managed by inmates of the Penhyn Youth Unit at Victoria’s Port Phillip Prison.
As part of a small business education program inmates produce T-shirts. The aim is to develop personal skills, to not only to reduce the risk of re-offending, but also assist in becoming positive and productive members of the community.
All T-shirts have been designed, manufactured and marketed by the inmates with enthusiasm and pride.
All profits coming from the sale of garments will be donated to a children’s charities including the Royal Children's Hospital. This year inmates have also chosen to support White Lion and Kids Under Cover. The program has run for three years, and last year it raised approximately $27,000. Every year, inmates hope to exceed the previous year’s record.
