The problem of drugs in sport lies within the sporting community and that’s where the action is needed. Here are some ways you can take action against drugs in sport: *If you are a member of a sports club, ask your club president what they do to restrict drug use in your club and if they know of the damaging effects of drug use. *If you have friends competing at a high level, ask them how they have managed to keep clean and whether they know of others who are using drugs to compete. *Don’t be afraid to ask coaches or trainers if they have seen people taking or dealing drugs. If it exists in your sport, they will most likely be aware of it. If you do find drugs are being used, visit the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) web site and check to see if that the drug is on the banned list for that sport. You should then report the use to the sporting officials of the club or team. You can also contact ASADA and ask them to send an independent representative to deal with the problem.
