What?

The Human Rights Torch Relay is an international campaign that seeks to bring an end to all human rights abuses against people in China while highlighting the persecution of Falun Gong, the most severely persecuted group in China today. Estimated at 100 million, Falun Gong adherents suffer the most horrific fate; forced removal of their vital organs to be sold for profit! China also continues its brutal repression of Tibetan Buddhists, Christians, Uighurs, rights advocates, reporters, and defense lawyers. It supports other totalitarian regimes in perpetrating slaughter upon their citizens--in Darfur, Burma, Zimbabwe, and North Korea. During the run up to the 2008 Olympics, the Human Rights Torch will be received by over 100 cities on five continents to spread the word that: The Olympics and crimes against humanity cannot co-exist in China.

Many Mainland Chinese are also participating in the torch relay in their unique way, eager to pass on their wish of "Human rights before Olympic Games" to all corners in the world. So far, eight provinces have confirmed their participation.

CIPFG, the main initiator of the Human Rights Torch Relay, is urging the Chinese Communist regime to end all forms of persecution and torture immediately and not to turn the 2008 Olympics into the ‘Bloody Harvest Olympics.’ We hope this effort will help save innocent lives and preserve human dignity. Let us not remain silent, as the world did before the Nazi-hosted 1936 Berlin Games.

"Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Whenever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must - at that moment - become the centre of the universe.“

Eli Wiesel, Holocaust survivor, 1986 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, 1985 winner of the Congressional Gold Medal, and author of over 40 books.

We welcome all to come and join us on Sat 27th Oct to run for rights in China!
