Have a Fair Trade Christmas

This year make sure you get your pressies, cards and Christmas snacks from a Fair Trade retailer.

When: 25/12/2008
Where: Online
Costs: Some! It's Christmas!

What’s involved?

Fair trade retailers are a great way to have a Christmas which includes exotic touches from all around the world. They not only sell presents but also chocolates, nuts, teas, coffees and wines.

Toys, jewelry, clothes and ornaments are great gifts, but they mean a little bit more when you know you are supporting a fair Christmas for another family too.

There’s something for every budget!

Why should people do this?

With all the fuss and money spent at Christmas time, it’s easy to forget that millions of families are having Christmas in much poorer circumstances. By supporting Fair Trade, you’re ensuring that a farmer in Nepal can sell his produce, or a weaver in Bangladesh gets paid what her baskets are worth.

There’s something Fair Trade for everyone, and if you want to give a truly unusual present, why not give a donkey, some seeds, or a pile of manure to a developing nation on behalf of someone you love through Oxfam Unwrapped?
