What’s involved?
We need 1000 people to raise $250 each to get 100 people affected by human rights abuses to Peru.
From 15 to 18 October 2008 the International Society for Health and Human Rights, in conjuction with Friends of STARTTS (Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors) is holding an international conference in Lima, Peru.
The conference will bring together delegates from all over the world to share knowledge, skills, experiences and concerns regarding the impact of persecution, torture and other human rights violations. In addition to inviting participants from developed nations to share their latest work and approaches, the conference has a strong emphasis on giving those affected by trauma and human rights abuses the ability to share solutions with other affected regions.
Why should people do this?
The impact of war, persecution and the abuse of human rights have major detrimental impacts on both physical and mental health. This conference focuses on the importance of rebuilding health and dignity after trauma and human rights violations to empower those most affected by human rights abuses to implement a range of different approaches that will assist in the recovery of their communities from these abuses.
