Young people aged 18 to 25 interested in learning more about themselves, developing their leadership skills and having fun are invited to apply for the 2006 Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program in District 9800.

RYLA is a seven-day residential leadership and personal development program that brings together young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to gain a better understanding of their own strengths, and the unique qualities and abilities of others. Applications will open for the 2007 program in July 2007.

Over the course of the week long program participants have the opportunity to participate in workshops designed to provide a range of perspectives on leadership and personal development. The dynamic workshop presenters hail from a range of backgrounds include theatre, community development and the corporate sector.

A team of young people, most of whom are past RYLA participants, manage the day to day running of the program.

Past participants describe the program as being incredibly rewarding.

I think (RYLA) really sparked my motivation… It made me develop a greater sense of what I want to achieve .... It showed me that just about anything can be achieved in a supportive community. RYLA Participant 2006
