What’s involved?

Interns work in the Inspire Foundation office in Sydney as part of the ActNow team. They work on specific projects, as well as in an advisory capacity to ensure ActNow is achieving its vision and objectives.

ActNow internships are a great opportunity to develop personal and professional skills in a collaborative and supportive atmosphere, while having heaps of fun!

During Summer we have positions available in four areas: Content, Marketing, Research and Community Engagement.

Positions

Content Intern: creates and updates content for www.actnow.com.au on social and political issues (local, national or international) of particular interest and relevance to young people. This position also involves developing online resources to equip young people with the necessary tools to take action on these issues.

Marketing Intern: works collaboratively with the Inspire Marketing Team to promote ActNow, with particular focus on leveraging social networking sites, and assisting in the execution of a major campaign and the development of corporate partnerships.

Research Intern: involves researching and writing a case study of a young person who has participated in one of ActNow’s youth participation programs. This position will be supported by Inspire’s Policy Manager. Interns will be recognised as peer researchers and will have the opportunity to contribute to any publications produced from this research.

Community Engagement Intern: works collaboratively with the ActNow Program Coordinator to plan the 2008 ActNow Community Engagement Seminar, an event scheduled for early 2008 involving ActNow’s key community organisation partners. This position also involves identifying new organisations to target for listing on ActNow.

General Information

All Interns receive training in site moderation and undertake an action project in their community.

They receive the same treatment and benefits as the staff of the Inspire Foundation except they don't get paid. They get a desk, computer, and other resources they need to do their job. They participate in any collective staff development opportunities that fall during their placement; they are an integral part of team meetings and are supported to achieve the objectives set for the placement.
