A great way to become involved on this issue is by connecting with, and contributing to, organisations that are already taking action on this issue. *THE FOREIGN PRISONER SUPPORT SERVICE* The Foreign Prisoner Support Service *"Save a life campaign"* is a not-for-profit volunteer prison advocacy service. This support service undertakes campaigns and advocacy to assist Australian prisoners, as well as providing assistance to the families whose loved ones are imprisoned. You can take action by donating to this organization. Your contribution will go towards maintaining this service. You can find out more about making a donation at http://schapelle.foreignprisoners.com/ By becoming a member of "Save a life," the Foreign Prisoner Support Service will keep you up to date on "save a life" campaigns, petitions and events in which you can become involved. *MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THEIR DAY* Another great way to take action on this issue is to help to make a positive difference to the day to day life of Australian prisoners. The Foreign Prisoner Support Service "Save a life campaign" provides some ideas and opportunities on how you can do this; 1. You can make a contribution of medicine, food, supplies and other necessary goods for prisoners to "Save a life." These will be used to create ‘care packages’ for prisoners. Foreign Prisoner Support Services has compiled a list of primary and secondary essential items for prisoners detained in foreign prisons. This can be viewed at; http://www.foreignprisoners.com 2. You can write a letter to an Australian prisoner. Don't underestimate the power of putting a few positive words of support down on paper, it can really lift their morale and brighten up their day. 3. You can make a donation to the families of Australian prisoners, to help them to provide their imprisoned family member with long term care needs. Details on how you can take these actions can be found on their website at http://www.phaseloop.com/foreignprisoners/how-you-can-help.html *SUPPORT A PRISONER'S INDIVIDUAL CAMPAIGN* You can also help imprisoned Australian's by becoming involved in their individual campaigns. These campaigns are working toward improving the particular circumstances of individual Australians in prisons overseas, for example, by appealing to the Australian Government or to Government's overseas to improve imprisonment conditions and to ensure that these conditions meet international humanitarian standards. The Foreign Prisoner Support Service website provides detailed information on the prisoner campaigns and petitions that are currently underway for Australian prisoners, and how you can make a contribution. These details can be accessed at; http://www.phaseloop.com/foreignprisoners/campaigns.html
