The Lowdown

When: 4/27/2009
Where: Australia Wide
Costs: None

What’s involved?

ActNow is looking for young people (aged 18-25) to join our next Incubator and help give ActNow a make-over!!

The 'Incubator' is a committee of people that give advice and get stuff done. Incubator members work in conjunction with staff to share ideas and problem solve to build ActNow to make it the site you want it to be!

The next Incubator will be focused on developing a new and improved website platform. There are exciting changes we’d like to make and we need your help!

The Incubator will run for 6 weeks and consist of up to 20 young people from across Australia.

The committee will be working together to:

  • Examine the strengths and challenges of the current website
  • Develop a vision for ActNow
  • Research and discuss ideas for the new ActNow site
  • Create a web brief to guide the development of the new ActNow site

There will be a 2 day face-to-face workshop held in Sydney at the start of the Incubator, followed by a structured online program.

To become an Incubator you need to be:
  • aged 18-25, living in Australia
  • able to attend the workshop in Sydney (costs covered by the Inspire Foundation*)
  • able to access the internet at least once a week
  • able to commit 2 hours per week to the Incubator for 6 weeks

*Incubators receive a small honorarium to cover their internet costs. Travel (including flights), accommodation and food costs associated with the Weekend Workshop are covered by the Inspire Foundation.

Why should people do this?

Benefits of the Incubator:

  • Have direct input into the future of ActNow
  • Gain experience in working with a non-profit organisation
  • Develop skills in research, problem solving and teamwork
  • Gain experience in using and developing technology for social change
  • Develop an understanding of website development
  • Have fun and meet awesome people
