Volunteers will be assisting in the day-to-day activities of the orphanage, caring for children of various age-groups. Some sections involve taking care of the basic needs of kids – waking them up in the morning, getting them ready for school, supervising their chores, helping them with their homework, playing with them, putting them to bed, talking to them, and creating a family environment. The younger kids will require constant supervision throughout the day. The older kids are more independent, but require companionship as they are at a difficult age.
Volunteers will also be involved in a variety of other activities during the project. This may include:
· Initiating humanitarian and charitable activities including planning special events (Variety Shows, drama performances) to help raise funds
· Organising conferences to discuss youth leadership and self-esteem
· Holding workshops as part of the cleanliness and hygiene program
· Taking part in infrastructure work including painting, rebuilding and gardening
· Implementing a publicity campaign including creating and designing brochures
· Conducting local research
