POSITION VACANT : VOLUNTEER PEER MENTOR


The Centre for Multicultural Youth Issues is looking for 15 people aged between 20-25 to work as Peer Mentors in the Noble Park area (Victoria) for the new Ucan2 project.

Ucan2 recognises the need to provide additional support for young people aged 16-24 from a newly arrived, refugee background as they make their pathway through compulsory school, training and tertiary sectors.

The criteria for the mentors are:

  • Be aged between 20-25

  • Be familiar with Noble Park area in Victori

  • Have experience of managing part time work and study

  • Have understanding of and interest in supporting newly arrived young people from refugee backgrounds

  • Excellent skills in communicating with individuals and small groups

  • Be interested in learning more about diverse cultures and settlement in Australia

  • Commitment to availability on Thursdays 3.30-5.30pm
