What’s involved?

The Young Carer Survival Kit is a digital installation which will screen in the foyer of the City Library, 253 Flinders Lane Melbourne, from 13 to 31 October 2009.

The Young Carer Survival Kit explores how young carers transform everyday objects into the extraordinary as they juggle family, friends, school and caring.

There are 700,000 Victorians caring for family members or friends with a disability, mental illness, chronic illness or who are frail aged.Over 100,000 of them are under 25 years old.

The Young Carer Survival Kit is a project by the Victorian Young Carer Action Team (VYCAT) - a group of ten young carers, aged between 15 and 23. VYCAT gives young carers a chance to meet, talk, share and contribute their opinions on important issues that relate to them.

Why should people do this?
