Bridge Volunteer Organisation

The Bridge is Australia's first student formed and led volunteer organisation. Based at the University of Queensland, the Bridge was established in 2001. We are an apolitical, non-religious, hands-on organisation.

Our aim is to promote and organise valuable volunteer experiences for UQ staff, students and other interested individuals in our local community - acting as a "bridge" for community involvement.

Being "hands-on" encompasses our aim to source volunteering projects that, as much as possible, allow volunteers to be directly involved in the community, and to see the positive results of their time and effort. We believe this experience helps greatly in developing a "volunteer ethic" amongst students - a willingness to help out in their community wherever they find themselves.

We offer lots of projects in the areas of academic research, animal care, elderly care, environment, health, multicultural and youth.
