Why do we exist ?
The Cancer Council Victoria, then named the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria, was set up as a charitable body in 1936 by an Act of the Victorian Parliament. In 2002, the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria changed its name to The Cancer Council Victoria.
What do we do ?
The Cancer Council funds and conducts research, delivers statewide support and prevention programs and advocates on important cancer issues.
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
Tour for a Cure
An experience of a lifetime! See the world, meet new people and be part of a team fundraising for the fight against.
When you join Tour for a Cure you are committed to raise a set sum of money for the Cancer Council while also becoming physically active in preparing for an exciting overseas adventure.
The majority of funds raised support vital cancer research, education and support programs. The remaining funds cover your airfares, transport and accommodation costs while you explore your chosen Tour for a Cure destination with fellow fundraisers.
These exciting overseas physical adventures honour the extraordinary ways Tour for a Cure participants go above and beyond to raise important funds to help fight cancer
Girls Night In
Girls Night In is a new event to raise funds for women's cancers and is a great way to show your support for all those women who have been affected by cancer.
The idea behind Girls Night In is simple:
- Invite your girlfriends, female colleagues and family members over
- Enjoy some quality time with your circle of friends over a food night, movie night, pamper night or fashion night
- Your guests make a donation to The Cancer Council equivalent to what they might have spent on a night out
We then channel the funds you raise into vital research on women’s cancers, our essential support services for cancer patients, their families and carers, and Education and Prevention program to lessen women’s cancer risk.
