To bring together artist run initiatives in Indonesia and Australia.

Gang creates opportunities for creative exchange between emerging Indonesian and Australian artists and their collectives.

This year, two artists from Gang toured three cities in Indonesia with an exciting collection of visual and video work from Sydney’s artist run initiatives.
They collaborated with collectives in Indonesia to showcase the work through exhibitions, screenings and discussions.

In January 2006, six Indonesian artists will travel to Sydney to take part in a program of screenings, music events, exhibitions, workshops, and forums, culminating in a Chippendale street festival finale on the 29th January 2006.

The Gang program for January is full of interesting events and projects for young people in Australia. The zine fair, for example, is a day where young people can exchange creative works and see some very interesting work from groups in Indonesia. http://www.gangfestival.com/events_australia.html

Gang would like to work closely with Noise http://www.noise.net) and the Asian Youth Arts Mall http://www.aya.net.my) to create opportunities for young artists in Indonesia.

Gang is a big experiment that erupted out of a few kooky ideas between friends. We think is exciting and important. We’d love you to check it out!
