Why do we exist ?
There is a need for medical research to unlock the mysteries of disease and produce better therapies.
What do we do ?
By looking at the genes, our research is focused on understanding the complex role of genetics in disease development. We study a range of illnesses including cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, mental illness, anorexia, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis and pituitary disorders to name a few.
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
Young Garvan is a group of young Sydney professionals (25-35 years) who meet three to four times per year to discuss current topical issues through forums and fundraising projects. We aim to raise awareness of medical research in young professionals, and through our fundraising we support a young scientist.
