Why do we exist ?

Habitat for Humanity is a not-for-profit, housing organisation which builds simple, affordable houses in partnership with low income families.

What do we do ?

We have built more than 200,000 houses in over 100 countries during the 30 years since our founding.

It is most unlikely that these families would have been able to do so otherwise. A new Habitat home is completed somewhere in the world every 24 minutes!

Habitat seeks to help people caught in a rent-induced poverty trap. Underprivileged families chosen on the basis of need alone, purchase their own homes on no-interest mortgages with Habitat. They also contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity" to the building of their own home, or that of another family.

What opportunities do we have for young people ?

Young people can be involved in our Global Village program - two week international builds with teams of 12 - 20 people.

Youth school teams can be involved building a home for a family in need while being exposed to the poverty housing issue within the Asia-Pacific region.

Other Stuff

In preparation to the build, you will also be able to fundraise, allowing for other skills to be developed including, event/project organising, setting & achieving goals, country and poverty research, presentation skills etc. You might also be able to participate in  domestic projects.
