Why do we exist?
To campaign in Australia for the cancellation of debt owed by developing nations to Australia and to the international institutions of which Australia is a member.
What do we do?
We are part of a worldwide movement of organizations which mobile people and governments all over the world to cancel the debts owed by poor countries to wealthier countries. In Australia we are a member of the Make Poverty History coalition:
http://www.makepovertyhistory.com.au. In our Australian campaign we:
Communicate to people how important international debt cancellation is to fighting world poverty
Report to our supporters when important international decisions regarding debt are taken, and organise campaigns around these dates
Put the case for debt cancellation to federal members of parliament and public servants.
Do research on the debt issue for our supporters and partnership organizations.
What opportunities do we have for young people?
