LIFE Australia

LIFE Australia is a new organisation formed to finance literacy programs in developing nations. Currently, our primary aim is to provide financial assistance to the LIFE literacy school in West Ghana, an innovative program that provides free education to the refugee child victims of Liberia’s civil wars.

So, why do we support the LIFE literacy school? LIFE has developed from roadside tutorials to a well-structured literacy program, offering the only free education in a camp that houses over 40,000 refugees. LIFE runs literacy classes five days a week, including evening classes for adults. The program offers students an intensive study of both oral and written language and caters for students over a wide range of competency levels. LIFE operates in accordance with the belief that literacy is the foundation of education. LIFE’s dream is that by empowering refugees with literacy, rebuilding a sustainable and peaceful nation where all Liberians can peacefully co-exist is possible. LIFE also believes in the core values of peace, unity, and reconciliation amongst the Liberian people. Their policies are geared toward tribal and cultural diversity, and aim to eradicate discrimination and corporal punishment of all forms.

LIFE Australia is currently fundraising to support the LIFE literacy school in West Ghana and to build a new school in Liberia. LIFE Australia also aims to help resource the program with teaching and learning materials, clean drinking water and nourishing food, and further teacher training and professional development opportunities. LIFE Australia supports LIFE’s belief that education is the key to restoring and maintaining peace within Liberia and believes that this initiative (developed and implemented by Liberians for Liberians) tackles the problem at its roots.

Our long term vision is to provide financial support to literacy campaigns in numerous developing countries.

We provide our volunteers with experience in fun and innovative fundraising, and the opportunity to work with an outgoing, professional, enthusiastic, and passionate young team.

Individuals interested in learning about how charities are formed are welcomed, as LIFE Australia is in its infancy, and there is still a lot of work to be done!
