Why do we exist ?
Oxfam Australia is an Australian, independent, not-for-profit, secular, community-based aid and development organisation. We aim to increase the number of people who have a sustainable livelihood, access to social services, an effective voice in decisions, safety from conflict and disaster, and equal rights and status.
What do we do ?
We work with communities around the world for solutions to poverty and social injustice. This includes supporting development projects around the world, responding to emergencies, campaigning for a more just world, and involving the Australian community through events.
We also have the Oxfam shops :)
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
Oxfam Australia manages the Oxfam International Youth Parliament (OIYP). OIYP is an initiative of Oxfam International, and is a network of young leaders in 92 countries working for positive and lasting change in their communities. The OIYP website is http://www.iyp.oxfam.org/.
We also organise events and campaigns that are suitable for involvement by people of many ages, including young people.
Other Stuff
Young People are also involved in our long term program development work - and campaigns and advocacy work as staff, volunteers, donors and advocates.
