Why do we exist ?

The PULSE Youth Health Centre provides a range of FREE health & wellbeing services to young people aged 12-24 years, primarily in the Glenorchy area but also to the rest of Southern Tasmania. Our team is made up of nurses, alcohol and drug worker, social workers, creative arts worker & a youth worker. We also have a visiting doctors 2 half days each week. Referral to Pulse can be done by phoning or just dropping in. A Worker on Duty is available everyday for those people who drop in or just want some brief assistance.

Pulse also has open access Tuesday to Friday in the afternoons and a fully equipped music room and recording studio.

What do we do ?

PULSE’S Beanbag centre is used for many things but primarily for access to the internet, job searching and by our very strong musicians who use it to access lyrics, riffs and other music needs.

What opportunities do we have for young people ?

Beanbag has enabled:
  • Greater linkages to youth mental health sites and other youth health sites
  • A young person to create a winning entry to the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Competition.
  • Allowed young people to contact each other, through messaging and chat rooms.
  • It has encouraged young migrants to access the centre and make contact with health staff.
  • Young people to secure jobs and training through internet access.
