Why do we exist ?
Young people make up 30 per cent of the world's population; 85% of whom live in developing countries. 59 million young people in the developing world are unemployed. Opportunities for a good education and career are extremely limited, exacerbating the health and environmental risks that young people face daily. SPW aims to tackle such issues by facilitating partnerships between young people from the developed and developing worlds, so that they may work together on practical projects responsive to the particular needs of the community in which they work.
What do we do ?
SPW is an international development organisation that recruits and trains young adults (aged 18-28) as volunteer Peer Educators, to lead programs that address urgent health and environmental issues in Africa and Asia.
Volunteers living in rural communities are best positioned to communicate life saving information, demonstrate Appropriate Rural Technologies and lead comprehensive behaviour change programs that bring about improved livelihoods for young people and their families including.
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
SPW peer educators live and volunteer in rural communities in Africa and Asia. You don’t need specific qualifications, just a passion for social justice issues and a desire to make a difference.
