Switch 1197 AM

Switch 1197AM is a youth independent, community-based radio station in Brisbane. We are a dance-influenced music station, playing dance, upbeat pop, top 40 remixes, and a selection on urban.

Our mission is to provide quality, entertaining and informative radio programming to our licenced service area, while providing opportunities to young people to be heard in the community and to be involved in the operation of our service.

We are a community radio station for young people, and we provide community access for young people in Brisbane.

Switch is licensed for the youth of Brisbane, so therefore we provide volunteer positions for young people to be involved with our station. Young people can volunteer in off-air volunteer positions, such as sales, marketing, promotions, and sound production; as well as on-air volunteer opportunities, such as announcing and being voice talent. Young people can make excellent contacts with politicians, events managers, celebrities, and community leaders. Switch have done conducted interviews with Lord Mayor Campbell Newman, MP Rowan Lee (Member for Indooroopilly), solo artist Tiffani Wood, Brisbane independent artist Claire Trentain, The Stafford Brothers, Stephanie McIntosh, and DJ Sammy, just to name a few.
