Why do we exist ?
TEC is an independent, non-profit organisation which seeks to protect the natural and built environment of NSW and Australia utilising information and advocacy to educate individuals, the community, business and government. We were established in 1972 and have run over 100 successful environmental campaigns.
What do we do ?
TEC provides an independent voice on environmental issues, without fear or favour. We work constructively with the community, governments, NGOs, business and the policy change process, for positive environmental outcomes tackling systemic issues, through awareness raising and long-term advocacy using a variety of measures including – education, research, publications, media, forums, workshops, lobbying, campaigning and community action – to bring attention to issues and effect environmental change
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
We have volunteering opportunities where you can learn about campaigning, research, policy development and advocacy.
Other Stuff
Our main issues over the last few years have been climate change, especially in regard to electricity and renewables; extended producer responsibility, for example take back laws for electronic waste; the greening of business; a sustainable urban water cycle; protecting rivers from coal mining; ending land clearing; protection of the coast; and alternatives to toxic chemicals. We have 12 staff.
