Why do we exist ?
To create communication platforms for young Australians through media and arts.
What do we do ?
We have six key project areas:
Vibewire.net - Vibewire.net is a platform for the expression of diverse opinions by diverse people on diverse topics, where young people can share their perspectives, priorities and passions. A platform where 16-30 year-old writers, artists and culture-makers can find a voice, interact and communicate with like (and unlike)-minded people.

Reelife Short Film Festival - Since its conception in 2002, Vibewire’s Reelife Short Film Festival has become a part of the Australian independent film landscape. Reelife taps into the ever-growing demand for youth inspired and created media, and provides opportunities for young people to express themselves on the issues which matter to them through the medium of film.

sQuareOne - a youth media and arts space in Ultimo, Sydney--a basecamp for emerging culture makers & social entrepreneurs. sQuareOne is:
- A hub of youth community engagement and expression and a meeting point of projects and organisations;
- An incubator of new projects and organisations;
- A training, event and exhibition venue;
- An office space and resource for youth media, arts and community workers and practitioners

Print Projects - we've published three magazines in the last year - “Interface”, an anthology of new youth perspectives on contemporary political, cultural and personal issues. “Sanctuary”, a collection of stories by young migrants and refugees and reflections by young Australians on what multiculturalism means to them. "Free Range", a magazine for digital film-makers. More to come in 2008.
Online Events - we host a number of online forums and events on Vibewire.net, including the e-Festival of Ideas, a five day festival of ideas around international development, media and democracy and creative expression.

NewConnections
NewConnections is a yearly conference which explores ways to better engage our communities in articulating their interests, ideas and ideals. NewConnections:
- explores ideas, techniques and technologies in the field of independent media, citizenship-building and inter-community dialogue;
- looks at the possibilities of new technologies, models of social change interventions and emerging forms of citizen participation; and
- provides a space to explore new ideas and possibilities, bringing together diverse organisations that care about the quality of citizen participation in our dialogue systems

Vibewire Youth Services is 100% youth-run (15-30). Our projects are not just for young people, they are by young people. So opportunities exist at every level of the organisation.
You could start a blog or hang out on the forums at Vibewire.net, enter a film into Reelife Film Festival, be published in one of our magazines, become an editor, reviewer or writer for Vibewire.net, join our tech or design teams, get involved in a project team such as for the e-Festival of Ideas, or even design and run your own project out of sQuareOne if you've got an dea! Vibewire is what our volunteers make it. And because we are a virtual organisation, you can get involved from wherever you are in Australia.
Other Stuff
Vibewire was founded by then university-students in 2000 and has grown through the contributions of hundreds of volunteers right around the country and thousands of people hanging out at and contributing to Vibewire.net. At Vibewire.net you can find a diverse community of young Australians with whom to discuss, debate and share your ideas and viewpoints.
