Why do we exist ?
VIYAC is a state-wide network of volunteer Indigenous young people who provide a voice to government and community on issues of importance to them.
VIYAC is an avenue for Indigenous young people to come together and voice their ideas, passions and interests, in a safe and supportive environment.
VIYAC is committed to supporting all our members to build their skills and capacity.
What do we do ?
VIYAC is a great way of meeting other Indigenous youth, having a say and at the same time, gaining skills. VIYAC will allow you to speak up about any issues that are of importance to you.
VIYAC can also be a vehicle that can help you access both government and non-government organizations, along with others in the community, to have your say. It's a great opportunity to come together with your friends and cousins to have fun and get vocal.
Anyone between 12 -25 yrs who is Indigenous and lives in Victoria can apply to become a member, simply contact us to find out how.
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
- You get to come together regularly and talk about important issues with your peers in a supportive environment.
- VIYAC will not be of any monetary cost to members.
- Most contact is through email and phone.
- There are conferences, meetings, luncheons and events to attend if you want to.
- There are training opportunities arising, some of which you can get accreditation for.
- You have the opportunity to meet with government and community to advocate and have your say on behalf of Indigenous young people.
- There are meetings every 2 -3 months where we get together as a group have a yarn, feed and discuss issues and plan our next.
