Why do we exist ?
WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) exists for one reason—animals worldwide desperately need our help.
What do we do ?
WSPA rescues animals by responding with essential aid and support for abandoned, mistreated or neglected animals, and those affected by disasters. We act against cruelty through global campaigns and lobbying governments to end the abuse and exploitation of animals, and the illegal trade of their body parts. Our education campaigns are changing hearts and minds so people respect animals and treat them humanely.
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
There are fun volunteer opportunities available every year during World Animal Week from October 4–10. Holding an event in the office or at home during World Animal Week is a popular way to raise awareness and funds for animals in need worldwide.
Ongoing volunteer opportunities are also available at our regional fundraising and publicity office in Sydney. The duties are administrative only as there is no 'hands on' work with animals from this office. For details please call 02 9902 8000 or 1300 139 772.
International volunteering opportunities can be organised through our member societies around the world. These societies can offer 'hands on' work with animals in many cases.
