Why do we exist ?

WAYAC exists to advocate on behalf of young people in the Eastern Suburbs. We do this to local council and other levels of government. We also exist to act as a platform to allow young people to do something about issues they care about. We are not an official arm of council and are jointly affiliated with Waverley Council and WAYS youth services (a non-government organisation). This gives us great freedom to act as an independent body; doing projects and advocating on issues our members care about!

What do we do ?

We act as a voice for young people in the Waverley area. This involves planning and organising events projects such as live music concerts, forums and whatever else. We also advise Waverley Council and the wider community on Youth Issues and issues young people care about. We are always looking for new ways to allow young people to interact meaningfully with society!

What opportunities do we have for young people ?

We are open to anyone who has anything to do with the Waverley area (work, go to school or just hang out) aged between 13 and 24. We meet once a month with subcommittees meeting more regularly around certain issues or projects. So please come along and see what it is like!
