Why do we exist ?

We live in peculiar times. More communications devices than ever before can connect us, yet more people live alone. We want to belong to communities but our cities can be lonely places.

We buy things – more and more things – with more and more money; but they don’t make us happy – life satisfaction was higher during post-war rationing in the 1940s.

Membership of political parties and unions continues to decline, but in a crisis such as the Asian Tsunami Australians have shown how they can and will pull together to help their neighbours.

We feel things very deeply and we want to do something but what? Why is it so hard?

Maybe it’s the scale of the problems which induces the state of paralysis. We think we have to leave change to government or big business even though we elect governments and our spending is what creates big business.

We Are What We Do is a movement with attitude. We are not trying to raise money. We are trying to show the power of a simple shift in attitudes and day-to-day behaviour

What do we do ?

We are trying to create a global brand that is as recognizable as Coke or Nike but is a brand for purpose rather than profit.

We have published the best-selling book, ‘Change the World for Ten Bucks’ that suggest 50 simple, everyday actions just about anyone can do to change the world.

In addition to this we will run a number of campaigns – at school, in workplaces, in the wider community - to encourage people to start doing the actions we suggest and to demonstrate the power of individuals working together for change!.

Most of all we want people to be inspired to change the world through their everyday actions and tell us about it. Let us know what you have done by posting a message on our website.

What opportunities do we have for young people ?

We believe anyone can change the world using their everyday actions and that includes you!

It’s simple, check our website or get a copy of, ‘Change the World for Ten Bucks’ for suggested actions and start making your world a better place!

Other Stuff

Australians have responded overwhelmingly to the idea of using their everyday actions to change the world. In We Are What We Do’s first six months in Australia almost 200,000 copies of, ‘Change the World for Ten Bucks’ were sold and close to 20,000 actions registered as complete on the website.

We Are What We Do is currently in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Plans are underway to launch in Canada and Spain next. And over 300,000 actions have been registered as complete
