Why do we exist ?
Being part of the Beanbag network enable young people to take part in broader involvement within the Canberra Community. Currently we are working on a short film for “Arcane Secrets” which is a project run by the Canberra Youth Theatre. Past project has been a promotional film on the youth centre and the services it provides to young people. Also being able to take part in competitions and e regular events which empowers young people and provides them with opportunities that they may never get.
What do we do ?
The youth centre was officially opened on the 27th May 1989 by Peter Garrett and is primarily a drop in centre with free recreational facilities including pool tables, internet, PS2, basketball, holiday programs and other program activities. The service also provides case management and specialized programs in local schools and juvenile detention centre. The youth centre is inclusive of ALL young people.
What opportunities do we have for young people ?
The Beanbag Centre is used for job searching, writing resumes, school work, online chatting, web surfing and media projects.
