YMCA Palmerston, NT

“The Y” is located in the Palmerston CBD (22 kms from Darwin) and is utilised by numerous groups for a range of community-oriented activities. Existing programs are both informal and structured.

Palmerston YMCA provides social, sporting, recreation and learning opportunities for young people and families in the Palmerston and Rural area.

Many of the young people we work with do not have access to computers at home, Beanbag has provided a real opportunity for them to gain confidence and practice their computer skills in a non threatening environment. We have seen young people who had no idea about computers become very competent users in a short period of time.

After the last Kick Arse project many of the youth who participated in the filming have expressed an interest in doing more.
Th Beanbag computers are utilised for School work, internet research, resumes, job search, music, chat.
