Why do we exist ?
The purpose of Youth for Human Rights is to teach youth and adults, with simple and understandable communication, about their basic human rights and the responsibilities that go with making them a reality.
What do we do ?
We run different activities that contribute to young people learning about the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and learning how to apply this to life. Our activities include:
Youth Forums
Lectures to schools and Youth Clubs
Information Stalls at markets and other major events
“Peace Angel” Events distributing Human Rights Flyers and booklets
Art exhibitions on Human Rights
Human Rights Hero competitions
Radio and TV segments on Human Rights
Working with different cultures to introduce human rights What opportunities do we have for young people ?
All the above activities are run by young Youth for Human Rights volunteers sometimes getting the opportunities to work alongside community leaders and their own peers.
Other Stuff
Some of the key issues we are working on are:
Human Rights education for the young people of Australia.
Education programs in schools in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra
The creation of Human Rights Projects for young volunteers across Australia.
Inter cultural understanding and sharing of human rights and values throughout the different communities in Sydney..
We are operating Youth Forums in major cities.
We are supporting major events in Human Rights such as the VEOHRC Human Rights Conference in Melbourne.
