Why do we exist ?

i-to-i is an ethical travel company that assists people to volunteer for a short time overseas on locally-run community projects. Many charities and NGOs are only able to help volunteers who are skilled and are able to dedicate 12+ months overseas, but i-to-i able to help people of all skill-sets and age to volunteer overseas in a sustainable manner.

What do we do ?

i-to-i is Australia’s leading travel company specialising in volunteer travel to Africa, Asia and Latin America and short course TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) training.

So whether you want to teach English in India, conserve wildlife in Costa Rica or help at community projects in Kenya, i-to-i can help you volunteer in a safe and supported environment.

We only work with locally run and locally organised projects. Many commercial volunteer travel companies set up their own projects overseas to meet the demands of international volunteers. This isn't something we feel comfortable doing. The projects we work with are organic in the very best sense of the word: they have grown out of the needs and demands of local communities.

Alternatively if you want to find paid work overseas, i-to-i has been running TEFL courses for more than 12 years and given over 50,000 people the opportunity to teach English overseas. We can also help arrange paid teaching jobs in Asia, Europe and South America.

What opportunities do we have for young people ?

Anybody between the age of 18-80, regardless of background, nationality or qualifications can volunteer on many of the projects we work with. To teach English, however, you must be a native or near-native speaker of the English language. All volunteers on teaching or community development programs receive TEFL training.

We also have a range of trips for 17 years and older, or if you are aged between 16 and 19, you can do 2-week placements as part of a group of people all your own age.
