How do you describe your bands’ sound?

Unique & honest, with a great respect for traditional Americana, Roots, Country, Blues & Rock’n’Roll. We’re not trying to fit any mold or consciously trying to sound like any other band. We just want to make damn fine music that will sound just as good in 50 years as it does now and keep a roots element to everything we touch.

Name one song or album that totally sums you up?

It  would have to be ‘Kissin’ The Dust’, or maybe ‘Fallen Flower’.

What other bands influence your music?

God that’s hard, there are so many. I’d have to say Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, The Band, Howlin’ Wolf, Neil Young, Nirvana, Mose Allison, Townes Van Zandt, The Smiths, Stone Roses, Ry Cooder, The Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, Slim Harpo, Gillian Welch, John Lee Hooker, Talking Heads, Pixies…blah blah yada yada yada

ActNow is all about taking action on issues that people are passionate about – so what does “action” mean to you?

Oh…y’know, the process of doing something in order to achieve a purpose, or something that somebody or something does.

What issues are you passionate about?

Too many things to list, but I’d have to say that although this may sound completely contradictory as I’m a guilt-ridden meat eater that wears leather, I am extremely passionate about animal cruelty and children’s rights. There is nothing worse in this world than seeing innocence abused!

What are some hot issues in your local area?

There are way too many ugly modern things running around.

Do issues in the world around you effect how you write your material?

Yes, of course they do.

How important do you think music is to create awareness around issues that the world faces today?

Well it’s a great tool for bringing issues that one is passionate about to the masses, and it’s certainly a very strong medium for your opinions to be voiced. So if there’s a lyric or a song that articulates a feeling or an issue that a listener or fan is fervent about or even ignorant to, but is informed through listening to a song then of coarse it’s a great tool to create awareness.

If you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?

I’m also a bit of an actor, so I guess if I woke up tomorrow and for some reason couldn’t make music anymore, that’s what I’d be doing. However I also paint and do all of our artwork and promo stuff for the band, so maybe I’d be inclined to do something based in that field too.

Where do you see your band in five years time?

Honestly, I see us taking it to the world. I don’t care much for being as big as bloody Bono & friends, but I certainly think that we’re cut out for the world no doubt.

If you could change one thing about the world in which you live, what would it be?

Ahhhhh, I know it’s HUGE cliché but I would really love to live in a world we’re there was no violence, hatred, ignorance or jealousy, although I unfortunately believe that as long as humans are walking the earth, there will be. Maybe the answer is a world with no homo sapiens, but I think our massive egos will never let that happen. Well, we’ll never intentionally let that happen.
