I work in Local Government and if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that progress only happens when everyday people like you and me rise above the political jargon and take an active interest in public affairs. The more people that do it the better!

There is way too much apathy out there (and I'm no exception at times) that allows people to get away with things that they shouldn't. Many people don't realise that just having an opinion on an issue and being willing to voice it can make a difference. That's why I'm a member of this site.

If you disagree with any of my comments, make sure you tell me why! I want to know because quite often, just when I think I've come to a conclusion on an issue, someone or something forces me to rethink my stance.

My philosophy for all my pursuits in life is this - set a goal and go for it, regardless of the sweat, tears, frustration, ridicule and pain it may mean in the process. This persistence has never failed me but even if one day it does, I would prefer to walk this path than to be wondering "what if..." in 10,20,30 years time.
