I live:	Melbourne

Ever since I was young, I dreamed of travelling the world and experiencing as many different cultures as possible. I love the thrill of being in a new place every couple of days, meeting new people and hearing their stories. I love trying new food and sharing a meal with new friends! Travel to me has a special significance because it demonstrates the possibilities that exist within the world, the possibilities for peace and humanity, and the possibilities for open, honest communication. It invigorates me and inspires me by challenging me to experience new things and discard my preconceived ideas of people and the way the world works. I guess most importantly, it gives me hope that by working together, we can create a better world for all global citizens, not just the ones who can afford to live in comfort. There are many things that I would like to change about the world, in fact, I am often accused of being a complete and utter idealist when it comes to change I would like to see happen in the world! First and foremost, I believe that the inequity between first world and third world countries needs to be addressed as I believe that we all have a responsibility to end the suffering of our fellow human beings. Secondly, I believe that young people need to be given a greater forum for expressing their opinions- we are the voices of today that will be the leaders of tomorrow. Too many young people are unable to express their feelings because they don’t realise the importance of what they have to say, how valid their opinions are and how the power to change the world lies within them. I want to get involved in ActNow because I believe that by joining together, young people have the power to make the changes they want to see in their communities and in their lives. I believe that by supporting each other, we can create a network of young people dedicated to empowering other young people around the globe. Communication is such an important tool and I believe it is important to use all the resources that we have, such as the internet, in our struggle to have our voices heard. There are many people who inspire me by their dedication, commitment and passion for life. I believe that inspiration can come from everyday people who dedicate themselves to others, people who struggle and don’t go down without a fight. I also believe that we need to learn how to inspire ourselves and how to draw inspiration from our own strengths…and weaknesses. Taking responsibility for the power that we have to change ourselves and to create a better place for ourselves in this world is the first step towards achieving this goal. My friends make me laugh and I am so thankful to have such wonderful people in my life. Without my friends, I would be lost, without their guidance I would be alone, without their encouragement and support I would never have achieved what I have in my life. One of my personal goals for this year is to dedicate more time to building and enjoying my friendships- there is so much to learn and so many good times to be had that I want to make the most of every moment we have together.
