I’m Jess, the ActNow Project Manager.

I think ActNow is a fantastic way to find out about important issues and connect with people who are passionate about creating positive social change! I believe that small steps lead to great accomplishments.

Some of the issues that are important to me are the protection of human rights, the sustainability of our beautiful environment and the celebration of diversity.

I think action can be taken in many varied shapes and forms!  Taking action can be challenging but it's a lot easier when you're doing something that you're passionate about in way that suits your personality.

You might be the type to take to the streets and march, or you might prefer to raise awareness by putting pen to paper; creating a piece of artwork or music that expresses your views; or setting up a group on a social networking site to spread your ideas.

Before working here, I worked as a media/communications tutor, as a public affairs officer at the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change, and as a communications assistant with The Fred Hollows Foundation. I have also worked as a freelance journalist for community newspapers and street press. I’ve got a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from UTS.

When I am not working, I like to have long conversations about anything and everything or just be silly with my friends and family. Basically I like to talk and laugh a lot! I love dancing, reading, watching films, going to the beach, having picnics and lying on the grass under a shady tree, eating summer fruit , drinking tea, and travelling to distant lands.
