Hola ActNow lovers! My name is Jo and I manage two of Inspire's programs - ActNow and Beanbag.
What am I passionate about? Education, human rights, health care, and equal access to all those things I've just listed. The environment and the rights of displaced peoples and refugees are also right up there. I care very much about young people being given the space, environment, and freedom to think, be, say and do - and creating opportunities for this to happen. I'm equally jazzed by the music of Ryan Adams and Tom Waits, David Foster Wallace novels, excellent quality leaf tea, and soft licorice (and if I can indulge in all of these things at the same time then I'm a truly happy camper).
What drives me bonkers? Lots of 'isms' and 'obias'. Sexism, ageism, racism, fundamentalism, homophobia...
So far my work has lead my down a few paths. I've done stints as a journo, developed international internship and volunteering programs and am now very happy in my Inspire home.
So why ActNow?
Because EVERYONE should have the opportunity be part of something awesome - and have access to the knowledge and resources they need to create awesomeness.
