hi
I am 20 years old and currently at uni.
I am on this site because I am interested in environmental issues like the global warming, conservation and deforestation. I am also concerned about third world poverty and want to see Australia contribute more in aid to developing countries.
People that inspire me are people like Steve Irwin who was so passionate about the environment and conservation. Also people like Bono and Bob Geldof who dedicate themselves to just and worthy issues.

Have u noticed how nearly 99% of the time politicians will vote strictly on party lines. This is they just vote for whatever their party wants. The exceptions are politicians like National’s Senator Barnaby Joyce who occasionally stands up for the people he is representing. Imagine if this occurred more often. The Government would have to actively negotiate with parliamentarians to secure the passage of bills and surely this would result in improved laws that are more representative of the public goals. I believe the system would be much stronger if there was more pro-active independent voting by parliamentarians. In the future I hope the senate will see the emergence of more independents and that the two party system will grow into a multi-party system. There needs to be greater choice and representation which is not currently occurring.
Firstly the USA has no right to act unilaterally on international matters unless they are responding to an attack against them or an attack against them is eminent. The unilateral action undertaken by the USA in Iraq ignoring the UN Security Council can not be continued. International matters should be resolved by the international community. The USA should not act as a sole arbitrator on international matters, they are not the world police. When they act as if they have a global jurisdiction as the last super-power all nation-states’ sovereignties are undermined and the world under goes the regulation of USA foreign policy which always first and foremost serves the USA national interest.
