The saying goes Seek and you shall Find.
- You miss 100 percent of the shots you do not take.
- Brave rejection.
How easy it is to just not try, to say its just to hard, to quit 5 metres before the finish line.To just not be bothered either way. I write this because this was me, not fussed its too hard, no way no how not me not now not ever.
I listened to motivational people and said "yeh right". Its easy to distance yourself to think your experience is unique to justify that your the only one going through what your going through, thats the easy thing.
The reality is people go through much worse and they dont feel sorry for themselves they just keep going thankful for what they do have.
I was feeling sorry for myself, a bit sick, poor me until I facebooked a friend in Indonesia. She told me she was busy cleaning up. Her whole house had flooded destroying most of what she had. She assured me everyone was ok and that was the main thing. Her whole house flooded!
Thank fully she is ok but it could have been worse.
I did not feel sorry for myself anymore.
I also realised that the motivational people, the ones we listen to and think yeh your just one of those different freak people. Most of them came from humble beginnings much like ours. If you just stop and ask them youll find they experienced the same thing as you, they just made the choice to not let it beat them.
So as I was reminded today, apply for that dream job, take up that hobby, reconnect with that old friend or put your name down for something you think you have no hope of getting picked for. Brave rejection, it might just fall in your favour and if it doesnt go out and find a way to make it happen.
It took a good friend of mine two years to write and publish his own motivational book. I still cant believe I can hold the tangible book in my hands. The amount of times he would have heard “no you cant” and still found a way around it, that is why I am going to read it.
