Hi my name is Philippa, I've just moved to Broome following my heart, my head and sunsets on Cable Beach.
The best adjectives to describe me are passionate, determined, quizzical and gregarious!
Having graduated from university in Journalism and Arts Management I find myself, like one of the many displaced graduates of 2009, applying for work whilst contemplating travel or return to study.
My goals for the second half of this year are to get more active in the arts industry and get involved in my new culturally diverse and politically active community as the region makes key decisions that will affect the future of the people and environment. Lodged in amongst this I hope to be more involved in my world and the decisions that are made by politicians and policy makers.

Sex Trafficking against Children and Young People is a heinous violation of Human Rights.
Recently I have received training on the issue for my workplace and have been shocked and alarmed about the abuse of over 1.8 million children per year who are manipulated or forcibly held as sex slaves.
This issue DOES affect Australians.
As cheap airfares, the internet and common languages open countries up to each other Australians are more likely to come into contact with child prostitution.
Child Wise is an organisation based in Australia working with victims of child sex slavery and educating people most vulnerable, particularly in South East Asia.
You can act by telling your friends, local politicians, stepping into The Body Shop to complete a survey to be sent to Federal Parliament and donating to Child Wise.

My name is Philippa, as you can see, and I am one of the ActNow incubators for this June to September period!
I am excitedly working on actions and writing more for the site as well as jet setting around the place and writing as many gig reviews as possible to keep my mind nimble and my fingers agile!
