Hi! I’m Alex, I’m eighteen and I’m restless. It’s probably my greatest dream to travel the world, to go to places like Africa, South America, Europe and Asia. Most of all Cuba ... as I’m half Afro-Cuban, half Australian.
I’m a self confessed nerd and not nearly smart enough for all I want to achieve. I’m studying a Diploma of Media and Communications at TAFE and I’m not exactly loving it but I do love media. From writing to production to design – it’s all a lot of fun – I’m developing a small obsession.
I have interned with Triple J and I’m always looking for new ways to get involved with the media. Actually, I’m currently part of ActNow’s ‘Incubator’. I believe the media has the capacity to ignite positive change.
I think of myself as a person with a lot of passion, for a lot of different things. I am passionate about doing my little part to make the world a better place. I am passionate about human rights, refugee issues, multiculturalism and helping the local community.
I get frustrated when I don’t think I have the capacity to do enough. I enjoy volunteering, helping others really is one of those things that gives you a natural high.
I think I’m pretty laid back but I do have the capacity to over-think, over-talk and over-stress.
I hate extremist anything. I love art, music, film ... and anime!

What better way to channel your inner-child than get down and dirty with a box of crayons and a grown up's colouring book featuring the links of Broken Social Scene and MGMT. Time to break out the blue hues and get cracking!
Try staying in the lines with the youth of today when the Indie Rock Coloring Book drops on July 22nd. Created by Andy J. Miller, the book ditches the usual and ever-so-boring dot-to-dot challenges and instead has you decorating artists such as Bon Iver, the Shins, Broken Social Scene, and MGMT to your heart's content.
What's even better is that all profits from the book will be split between charities chosen by the bands featured in the pages - so it's on for hipsters young an old alike. With a forward by Rilo Kiley's very own Pierre de Reeder, this trendy item will be more must-have than a diamond studded iPod nano.

As a media student I have recently discovered the 'machine' that is bloging and micro-blogging and such. Adictive fun.
check me out on tumblr (aka lazy blog)

I'm writing this as I am very exited to say that I have been accepted into ActNow’s Youth Advisory Board – The Incubator!
This is something that I very much wanted to happen as I don't deny, that I am one of the many young Australians who admits that the recognize the dire state of the world and the country (in many but not all aspects), but due to nothing other than laziness or being caught up in life's little trivialities, they take no action. I have been looking for something positive to channel all my enthusiasm and energy into other than my classes or ... facebook ...
That being said, I am a very passionate person in terms of both humanitarian issues and design and creativity so hopefully in helping to redesign the ActNow website I will be doing justice to the many people who have put their heart and soul into the project.
I will hopefully be a voice (however faint) for those who are passionate but don't know where to begin with their endeavors.
