Name: Caterina
I live: Sydney

My name is Caterina, I am currently studing a Bachelor of Social Science/Bachelor of Law at UWS. I am a massive stress head, but at the same time I am absolutely loving uni! ActNow is great because, it consists of a bunch of really hard working people, who want to help make people feel good about  themselves, and make a difference in the world. I am very passionate about human rights issues, and social injustices, and i hope through my studies and experince to try and make a difference someday also. Who inspires me? My parents, Mother Teresa, and anyone who tries to make a difference, however big or small that may be. What makes me laugh? Practically ANYTHING, I am a very down to earth person who loves to joke around and have a good time.

Here I am again, at lastttt!!! 07-10-2009 12:33

FINALLY! I was beginning to have ActNow withdrawal symptoms… Unfortunately I didn’t come around to coming into the office last week, uni assignments were absolutely torturing me, I swear! So, I decided it was best to stay home, and do as much research as physically (and mentally) possible from my handy dandy laptop. (:

As usual, my obsession over knowing all things human rights, caused me to spend more time than I actually had browsing the net and reading a ton of books…  And I spent a considerable amount of time working with my favourite organisation, A Just Australia (AJA). :P I made it my mission (along with surviving my horrible assignmenting week of course…) to keep my ears and eyes out for the mass media’s misuse of terms such as “illegals” instead of the accurate term, which is much less degrading – “asylum seeker”.

In the last two weeks, I have noticed it on a breakfast radio show (2day fm) a breakfast TV show (the Today show) and a television drama (Home and Away), I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE IT, HONESTLY!! – I won’t bore you guys with the itty gritty details of what I did (in case you’re not interested, but you SHOULD be interested!), instead, I will post all the details on a “story” that I am writing on the action taken… You will be able to find this on my profile page, under “pages I created”. Please, PLEASE check it out - for me… *bats eyelashes* k, thanks! (:

On a completely unrelated note, I got Big Day Out tickets this morning… WOOOO!! xD

ALRIGHTY THEN, nice talking to ya!

My very first day at ActNow! :) 22-09-2009 01:38

I am super duper excited to be one of the brand new AWESOME interns here at ActNow, I am definitely enjoying it so far! The best thing right now, is the free internet access I think, as I openly confess to being an internet junkie! I have been browsing the net now, for over four hours, it is fantastic! J

I have come across some great sites, one of which I would like all of you to take a peek at, as I believe it is pretty damn good! It’s the Australian human rights commission – info for student’s site, it explores a range of human rights issues, including real life stories and how youth can have their say! It’s brief and colourful so u will not get bored, I promise!  Here is the link -> http://www.hreoc.gov.au/info_for_students/index.html  if you’re cool, you will check it out! :P

Farewell my fellow ActNow-ians,
until next week –
CATERZ :D
