I'm happily married, with two brilliant teenage kids 16 and 14, into living, making and eating Indian curry and having the occasional drop of fine red wine.
Love chocolate. Adore mangos.
Share home with three cats. Or they share home with me. Border collie is happy to stay outside and out of the inter species politics.
Albany is a gorgeous place to live.
I am a children's author, writer of varied 'stuff' and work in schools bending and twisting and mucking about with young minds. And they, in turn, muck about with mine!
I am currently looking for people of all ages and cultures to join together and adopt an orphanage, the location to be chosen during the next two weeks.
I am a children's writer, teach creative writing, memory techniques and work with kids on school online newspapers and magazines.
I run a website called www.chocmint.ws which I had set up to sell e books for children.
Last week I had one of those 'moments' when everything became clear.
These moments are rare, so I listened attentively.
I know longer want to make money out of writing for children, so every dollar from now on is going towards adopting an orphanage, either Eastern Europe or India. After that another, and another ...
Writers and illustrators who would like to join in with this adventure are invited to e mail me asap. So is anyone else with whom this message 'strikes a chord'.
Up until last weekend I was offering 50/50 on all books sold. So, if I wrote them and an artist illustrated them, we would go 50/50 on proceeds.
Now I'm offering, um, nothing, zilch, except the opportunity to make a difference in transforming the lives of young people.
That's HUGE!
What it also does is open up other possibilities. When you work towards transforming someone elses life, yours has an amazing habit of transforming as well. Providence rewards those who jump in and assist :o)
This is a VERY exciting project, and will raise funds and make a difference in ways I haven't even dreamed of yet.
