*Who am I?* At heart, I’m a serial student (of politics and law) and volunteer. I’m a juggler – I can’t seem to say no to anything so my life generally swirls along like a tornado that gets involved with anything that comes in its path (which is vaguely angled in the direction of social justice for the disadvantaged – particularly youth, refugees and ethnic minorities). I’m rapidly replacing the water content in my body with coffee and will eventually turn into an espresso. *Where do I belong?* With my nose in a book, my head in the clouds, my eye on the horizon, my heart on social justice and my (flat) feet on the ground. *What really gets me going - what makes me act?* Social injustice! For example: discrimination, especially racial; a lack or breach of human rights; inequality; the knowledge that a situation could be better than it is. The human element really helps for me – meeting someone, like an asylum seeker in immigration detention, and hearing his or her story, always hits home. *What’s the difference between caring about something and doing something about the things I care about?* Your priorities, values and beliefs. The most important goals in my life – the things I value and prioritise – are the achievement of social justice and the betterment of the lives of other people. What I think is critical to me taking action, though, is my belief that any action that I take CAN help to improve other people’s lives and that if I can, I SHOULD, as a matter of responsibility to the community. *In a nutshell?* You can improve this world – and you should.
