ok ... i grew up first on the south coast and then the north coast of new south wales... at the end of high school i moved away from the beautiful rainforests and beaches and headed down to sydney to do a combined Arts/Law degree.
last year (2006) i spent my time working at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in the Division for the Advancement of Women, Women's Rights Section as a Consultant on the Secretary General's Study on Violence Against Women (which you can check out at
http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/vaw/index.htm). I started out there on an internship in January and through some combination of luck, hard work and ... well, luck, the division decided to keep me on as a paid consultant.
After that I headed over to Europe to do an internship for an organisation called Women's Iniatives for Gender Justice and then on to Utrecht University where I studied human rights and international criminal law. While I was in Utrecht I worked for an organisation called the International Federation of Health and Human Rights (www.ifhhro.org) and was lucky enough to skip my way to Mumbai, India and Kampala, Uganda to run meetings and trainings on health and human rights.
ah but that's all academic. i'm a singer/songwriter/guitarist... I'm a laugher and a lover... I'm angry and I'm happy... and what makes me want to act is the blatant injustice in the world ... but just how i'm going to go about acting is still a mystery to me!
i'm back in sydney now for a few months... next destination: new york.
